When I was thinking of the domain name for this personal site I was strongly advised by those dear to me that gordonbaker.com was just too sad for words. Someone had also claimed it. That didn't leave a lot of room for manoeuvre in looking for something appropriately professional.
One of the facts of corporate life is that we get labelled with acronyms to make life in HR interesting. UBS excelled in this regard by reducing everyone to a three letter acronym. Mine was BAR which, perhaps, has too many memories of the champagne lifestyle in investment banking in the 1990s. At Capco my acronym was GBKR, so that won by default.
